Oops! Skit- Written by Lizzy Merilyn

KATY: Uh-oh.
SADIE & LIZZY: What?
KATY: It says we have 4 more hours until we get to Acadia. We were supposed to get there in just 2.
LIZZY: Oh, gosh.
SADIE: What happened?
KATY: We made a wrong turn. We're headed back to Bangor!
LIZZY: Nuts! We were so excited to get there, but, oh nuts.
SADIE: What are we going to do?!
KATY: Um, I guess I'll just turn around to get there ASAP... Siri, what's the quickest route to Acadia National Park, Maine?
SIRI: Checking... The quickest route to Acadia National Park, Maine is Highway 51. The traffic is red. Would you like to search for an alternative route?
KATY: Oh great!
SIRI: I'm not sure what that means. Would you like me to search the web for it?
ALL: (Laughing) What a trip!
SADIE: Er, I think I'm going to be carsick.
ALL: Oh, no!

Adventuresses' First Trip- by Sadie Kiel

Acadia National Park, here we come!
Katy is relaxing in a garden on our stop at her farm.

Sadie rides a horse in the pastures.

Lizzy paints her pottery on our art break in the farm's lodge.
On the way to Acadia now... Woohoo! Sadie's driving!

Pulled over... getting carsick :(

Feet in the car!

Beautiful view on the side of the road

Campers Out- Written by Lizzy Merilyn

So you know our plan now. But where are we going to stay on our adventure? Hotels, no way. We are the campers out. We have a 10 person tent (I know, there are only 3 of us, but we wanted lots of room), so we are going to cook quesadillas and vegetarian hot dogs (and s'mores!) over the fire and set up our things (and some cool activities to keep us entertained) in our tent. We always have to remember to put the fire out ASAP, though, because we do NOT want to start a wildfire!
Here are some photos of the tent (inside and out!):
Wake Up, Sadie!

All Pitched Up!

Camp Outs Rock!

Peek-a-boo, campers!

So Relaxing...

We aren't the only ones!

Here's the Plan- Katy Biggs

I'm so excited! We have so many cool places that we want to go! First we want to take a trip through the American National Parks. Here's a map of the National Parks and a list of where we will go (and the order).

First, we are going to meet at my farm in Bangor, Maine. From there, we are going to visit Acadia National Park. Next we will head south to Cape Cod, National Capital Parks, Shenandoah, Mammoth Cave, and the Great Smokies. We will then head northwest to Tallgrass Prarie, the Rockies, Badlands, Wind Cave, Yellowstone, Glacier, and east toward Theodore Roosevelt, Voyageurs, and Isle Royale. From Isle Royale, we will swoop way south to the Everglades, stopping in Memphis, Tennessee to visit Sadie's family. Everglades to Big Bend, Big Bend to Guadalupe Mountains, Guadalupe Mountains to Chiricahua, then to Saguaro, Organ Pipe Cactus, Joshua Tree, Death Valley, Sequoia (King's Canyon), Pinnacles, Yosemite, Point Reyes, Lassen Volcanic, Lava Beds, and Redwood. We will keep heading north from there, to Crater Lake, Olympic, and North Cascades. We won't miss Craters of the Moon in Idaho, and what could be nicer than a cruise down to Hawai'i for Hawai'i
Volcanoes National Park and Haleakalā National Park? Up way north is Alaska with Lake Clark and Denali, which we absolutely can't bypass, and we'll make sure not to forget Virgin Islands, out in the Caribbean. What an awesome American adventure! And that's not all! Don't miss our trip to the National Parks of South Africa (up next) and more!

Sisters Together- by Sadie Kiel

Lizzy, Sadie, and Katy. We were meant to be. 3 different girls, 3 different places, but the same wish. To start off the blog, I decided to write a post about how the Nature Sisters came to be.
I, Sadie Kiel, was from Memphis, Tennessee. I lived with Brother Ben, Mama Meggan, Daddy Daniel, and 4 pets: Toby the dog, Plush the guinea pig, Frances the frog, and Frelina the frog. You can already see that I loved animals. And I mean LOVED animals! I'd always been an animal lover, but when I joined my family on a 5 month trip to South Africa, when I saw SO MANY spectacular animals, my animal personality really got to shine. My three favorite animal friends were: Jack the giraffe that playfully kicked me (it didn't hurt too badly), Granny the kudu that I fed, and Napolean the lion cub that I played with (he was tame). Ever since, I've been big into animals. I wanted to be with animals and nature my whole life, and I wanted someone who was interested in exploring wild animals with me.
Sadie is hanging out with Taba the South African elephant!

Elizabeth (Lizzy) Merilyn was an only child. She lived with Mom Margot, Dad Davis, Granny Bella, Grampie Norman, and 2 dogs named Fiesta and Frisky. She lived in New York City, and didn't get to see wild animals besides birds, squirrels, raccoons, etc. until she was 14. It was a school trip to Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, and Lizzy immediately fell in love with hiking, climbing, and especially animals. "There were bison, there were bears, and, cutest of all, prarie dogs!" she told me. "It was the time of my life!" When she came back, she just KNEW that nature was her thing. She, too,  was on the search for someone to be a nature girl with her.

Lizzy (2nd from the left) is on her thrilling Yellowstone trip!

Katy Biggs was different from the others. She was with animals all her life. She lived in Bangor, Maine on a farm with Mommy Kassie, Daddy Jacob, Sister Lainey, and a kitten named Maisey. She was home schooled by her mother in the sheep field. She loved to help out with the baby cows, sheep, chickens, pigs, and horses. But farm animals were not enough for adventurous Katy. When she was 12 and Lainey was 9, they went camping in a reserve near Bangor. Lainey was not a fan of being in the wild all day, but Katy was having a blast! She told me, "I had a bunch of close encounters with moose, and I loved not knowing what was coming next! It was the best feeling just knowing that I could run into a moose just around the corner!" She was always a nature person, and she was also a friends person. She wanted a friend who would be adventurous and explore the animals and nature of the world with her!

Then, in the summer of 2015, Sadie, Lizzy, and Katy were all on a summer trip to Glacier National Park. They were all hiking the same trail, so they said hi and got to know each other. By the end of the trail, they were already the best of friends! The Nature Sisters were together at last!
